We welcome children of all ages at the permaculture gathering!

The kids program is a wonderful enrichment opportunity for kids at the gathering. We could easily charge a fee for all that we are offering, but in an effort to encourage our future generations to participate in and learn about permaculture ideals and community collaboration and cooperation, we are happy to provide this service to our families and children!  Love Offerings are graciously accepted at the gathering!

DIY Solar 101
with Keenan Phillips

Curious about living with solar energy and maybe even installing your system? We'll cover all the basics: load calculating for battery and system sizing, where to site your panels and equipment, battery and other equipment options, general system design. Optional field trip to a nearby off-grid, passive solar, PV solar, wood radiant floor heated (w/ hot tub), small, custom-built (by class teacher), double-wide, mobile home. The home is adjacent to Mountain Gardens and there can be an optional jaunt from that field trip as well.

Chicken Processing
with Heather Hartley
Meet Your Meat! Come learn how to slaughter and butcher chickens from local farmer Heather Hartley of Down To Farm. We will be processing the birds that will be served at the gathering, so this is an opportunity to learn as well as help provide a delicious meal to fellow event goers. All levels of experience and participation welcome (although you will be encouraged to get your hands dirty!)
