Welcome to the 22nd SE Permaculture Gathering
August 7th-9th, 2015
Aug. 6th (workshops)
nestled in the Southern Appalachian Mountains
“No matter what forms we observe, but particularly in the organic, we shall find nowhere anything enduring, resting, completed, but rather that everything is in continuous motion.” -Goethe, quoted in Edible Forest Gardens, Volume One, by Dave Jacke with Eric Toensmeier.
Last year’s theme was “Time for Change.” Change is necessary, change is inevitable, but we can not know exactly what form it will take. We can, however, “Embrace Succession” and use our assets and observations to envision what that succession may look like.
Yes, the world is changing, and so is our movement. The Gathering is also making changes; some are out of necessity, some are experimental, intended to shift the energy and the aesthetic.
Like an evolving ecosystem, Can we add more resilience, more diversity, more niches for inclusion?
Can we push OUR edges ever wider?
To do so requires the freshness of youth and the wisdom of the elders, parts of
which are intermingled in us all.
On a practical level, Who shall begin to grow into the roles that others have long held?
We invite you to come to the gathering, commune, enjoy respite, share in the bounty,
and help us learn and play together, generation to generation.
